Problem
Water is a scarce resource that is being wasted by leaks, daily. Pipes that detect leaks already exist, but they run on fossil fuels. This is not only bad for the environment, but it is expensive to pay for the electricity.
We designed a solar smart pipe to detect leaks. It will run on solar energy, and when it senses a leak, the electromagnets will drop, stopping the leak. Why solar energy? Solar energy is good for the environment and is now cheaper than electricity run by fossil fuels. Solar energy is about 29 cents per watt.
